I read these tips from Women's Weekly October 2008.
There are 5 important things to consider when searching for a perfect laptop.
SIZE MATTERS - If you are always on the move and need to use your laptop for a short period of time, you need to go for ultralight types. And if you are going to be spending hours in front of it, it is best to opt for a larger display.
STORAGE CAPACITY - If the laptop will be your primary computer, you need at least 120GB but if it is just a supplement, then a 60GB hard drive will do.
ENOUGH MEMORY - The more applications running at the same time, the higher the memory or RAM is needed. At least a 512MB RAM is required for word processing and internet surfing.
STAY CONNECTED - If you always need to stay connected, make sure that the laptop that you are buying is equipped with WiFi capable unit.
STICK TO YOUR BUDGETS - Laptops are significant investments, so be wise and practical. Set a maximum amount for which you are willing - and able - to spend.
